ADVOCACY- APPROACH

1. HEALTH PROMOTION

Health promotion efforts are aimed at achieving equitable access to comprehensive healthcare services for Gender and Sexual Minorities (GSM) by 2027. This involves engaging with county and national health systems to enhance their understanding of GSM needs and developing targeted programs to address Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) concerns specific to GSM individuals. A central commitment is the establishment of a robust linkage and referral system that ensures GSM individuals can access appropriate healthcare services effectively. These initiatives aim to foster inclusive and accessible healthcare systems that promote the overall health and well-being of GSM communities.

2. SOCIAL & ECONOMIC WELLBEING

Social wellbeing initiatives at Pema Kenya are integrally woven into its mission to foster inclusivity across diverse communities, including Gender and Sexual Minorities (GSM). Collaborating closely with various stakeholders, Pema Kenya identifies and addresses barriers that hinder access and equality, striving to create a leveled environment where all individuals can participate fully and equitably. Through these efforts, Pema Kenya seeks to empower GSM individuals to engage actively in social settings, advocating for their rights and fostering a supportive environment that promotes their social integration, safety, and overall wellbeing. This commitment underscores Pema Kenya's dedication to advancing inclusive practices and enhancing the quality of life for all community members.

3. INSTITUTIONAL STRENGTHENING

Institutional strengthening at Pema Kenya is a comprehensive initiative aimed at enhancing leadership, management, and technical capabilities to effectively fulfill its mission. This includes strategic recruitment and retention of skilled personnel at both Secretariat and Board levels, alongside the development and pursuit of diversified funding streams to ensure sustainability. Capacity-building programs are designed to empower the Secretariat and Board members, equipping them with the necessary skills for effective governance and programming in Gender and Sexual Minority (GSM) issues, particularly in the Coastal region. Furthermore, the establishment and implementation of organizational policies and strategies are prioritized to bolster technical proficiency in GSM programming. Pema Kenya is committed to fostering reliable partnerships, networks, and alliances through structured engagements with stakeholders. Strengthening finance and accounting systems, enhancing infrastructure, and adopting proactive marketing, communications, and publicity frameworks are integral to increasing visibility and support. Embracing cutting-edge ICT systems ensures responsiveness to technological advancements, while the ongoing implementation and periodic review of the Strategic Plan provide a framework for continuous improvement and adaptability to evolving challenges and opportunities.
