16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM!! With the fight against Gend 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM!!

With the fight against Gender-Based Violence becoming more relevant than ever due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we add one more day to the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence”, signalling the importance of the theme even after the end of our Joint Campaign. This video is a collection of some of our positive messages from the last 16 days, gathering our wishes, hopes and prompts for the future.

Day 16 of 16 Days: In our penultimate video for Day 16 of 16 Days: 

In our penultimate video for the #16DaysofActivism, Grace from Pema Kenya speaks about LGBTIQ+ rights, especially in the Kenyan context. She emphasizes the need to sensitize as well as #educate people about their own rights which enables them to better seek #justice and #equality. In addition, Grace speaks about the state of LGBTIQ+ rights in Kenya. Her wishes for the future includes that the LGBTIQ+ people’s rights get addressed and that the Kenyan Constitution acknowledges and protects LGBTIQ+ people.

In this video, Pinky from Udada Imara discusses LBQ+ #parenthood. In addition to limited options for how to have children, LBQ+ women and other LGBTIQ+ persons often face certain #expectations from their families and communities that only grow stronger as you grow older. Pinky shares her own experience alongside the discussion of wider issues LGBTIQ+ people face in the process of becoming and being parents.

Acceptance of any contribution, gift or grant is at the discretion of the PEMA Kenya. The PEMA Kenya will not accept any gift unless it can be used or expended consistently with the purpose and mission of the PEMA Kenya.

No irrevocable gift, whether outright or life-income in character, will be accepted if under any reasonable set of circumstances the gift would jeopardize the donor’s financial security.

The PEMA Kenya will refrain from providing advice about the tax or other treatment of gifts and will encourage donors to seek guidance from their own professional advisers to assist them in the process of making their donation.

The PEMA Kenya will accept donations of cash or publicly traded securities. Gifts of in-kind services will be accepted at the discretion of the PEMA Kenya.

Certain other gifts, real property, personal property, in-kind gifts, non-liquid securities, and contributions whose sources are not transparent or whose use is restricted in some manner, must be reviewed prior to acceptance due to the special obligations raised or liabilities they may pose for PEMA Kenya.

The PEMA Kenya will provide acknowledgments to donors meeting tax requirements for property received by the charity as a gift. However, except for gifts of cash and publicly traded securities, no value shall be ascribed to any receipt or other form of substantiation of a gift received by PEMA Kenya.

The PEMA Kenya will respect the intent of the donor relating to gifts for restricted purposes and those relating to the desire to remain anonymous. With respect to anonymous gifts, the PEMA Kenya will restrict information about the donor to only those staff members with a need to know.

The PEMA Kenya will not compensate, whether through commissions, finders' fees, or other means, any third party for directing a gift or a donor to the PEMA Kenya.
